CORPORATE BADDIE: WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST IN YOUR APPEARANCE

When you look good, you’d feel good and when you feel good, you become more confident and attract respect.

Did you know that when you put effort into your appearance it affects how you perform and actually does boost your confidence level, in terms of speech, posture, stride and so on, speaking out of experience. Let’s take a look at how prominent people pay attention to their appearance for example Ngozi Okonjo-Iwela, Chimamanda Ngozi-Adichie and others, they make sure their appearance make a presence even before they speak.

There was a day I needed to do some transaction at the bank, I took permission from work to go attend to that, when I got there, right from the security check point I noticed an extra respect given to me and when I eventually got inside I was given a lot of attention. It got to the point where a senior officer had to make sure I was been given the right treatment. When I got back to the office I recalled all what happened at the bank and kept wondering why the extra attention, it could’ve been something else, however, I felt it was probably my dressing.

Sometimes you attract opportunities when you look good and you attract the best when you look your best.

As a Human Resources Manager when conducting interviews for prospective candidates the very first thing I subconsciously notice is their dressing, it already sets the tone for the interview ahead. You need to make sure when you are in people’s presence, they want to be in your presence.

Today’s post on the blog I’ve put together this monochromatic neutral colors, it’s giving office boss look, perfect for a 9-5er. Anyway, I mildly accessorized with a transparent eye glasses, pearly stud earrings and knuckle rings.

That's all for this post, keep supporting The Style Fanatic and celebrate what you want to see more of.

  13. This is so true. I will never forget this time I went into a store when I was living in Seattle. The first time I went in I was dressed like a schlump. No makeup, my hair not done, I was wearing baggy mens pants an over-sized old denim jacket and black oxfords. The next time I went in I wore a dress, tights, boots my hair done and makeup. Well it was a world of difference in how I was treated. The first time I was kind of ignored, though not completely, I was literally getting side eye. They were watching me for stealing.

But yes you do feel better and more confident and the world does respond differently...

  19. I love this elegant outfit - the neutral colours are a change from the usual black and white seen in my office and the trousers are so stylish. I never used to wear trousers but now wear them most days as they are so comfortable and practical

  23. Absolutely true! Your appearance plays a significant role in shaping your confidence and how others perceive you. Investing effort into how you present yourself can have a profound impact on your interactions and opportunities. Your personal experience at the bank is a perfect example of how a polished appearance can lead to heightened respect and attention.

  37. I’m in my last year of high school. It’s honestly sad to see that most students don’t dress up! They usually just wear a hoodie and black leggings. Pjama pants and slippers are becoming more common! I honestly feel like their lack of effort in fashion, reflects their lack of engagement in school. I feel like a lot of students would be once more engaged and productive if they dressed up and found a personal style.
