FEMININE PREPPY LOOK

 Preppy fashion emerged in the late 1970s with cues from the original Ivy League style. For women, preppy-influenced fashions emerged in the 1960s, a trend led by designers such as Perry Ellis and Lilly Pulitzer, influenced by designers such as Oleg Cassini, and popularized by female students at the Seven Sisters Colleges, sister institutions to the Ivy League.  
These classic ensembles of the 1960s and 1970s include tailored skirt suits, low heels, wrap dresses, shift dresses, silk or cotton blouses, and jewelry with a refined style. Such clothing often includes elements drawn from typical preppy style, such as nautical stripes, pastel colors, or equestrian details. Source

When I initially ordered these outfits from Zaful (by the way I’m wearing everything Zaful from eye to ankle) I wanted to go dapper (remember I talked about it here) but changed my mind after postponing this shoot twice already because of my exams. I really like this look, especially the floral embroidered shirt. I call this look the ‘Preppy’ look, why? because I feel it is. Trying this new blue lippie on the blog today, how do I look in it and where would you rock this look to? Sometimes we sweat the small stuffs, this post is a perfect example. Like I said early I had wanted to go dapper with this look, I wanted a particular location for it and all, but on the day the shoot was scheduled I wasn’t’ feeling it. I just put on my blue lipstick which I never tried until now and boy do I look different in a good way with that lip shade, grabbed the nearest pair of shoe I could find. I didn’t even plan the fishnets pantyhose, everything came to me that 3 minutes of dressing up and I told my photographer to let us do the shoot at a nearby location and look at how the pictures turned out, clean and precise. We didn’t even take a lot of pictures yet the few we took turned out blog worthy. Moral of the day is; don’t sweat the small stuffs, some days don’t try to overdo things, just go with your guts and things will definitely turn out fine, if it doesn’t, there will be something new to learn.
